Qualification Purpose

The Focus Awards Level 3 Diploma in Sports Massage Therapy (RQF) is typically aimed at learners who are currently working in the sports and active leisure sector, students studying physiotherapy, sport science, or strength and conditioning, or those serving in the armed forces. The purpose of the qualification is to provide learners with the knowledge and understanding of human anatomy and physiology, and sports massage techniques. Learners will develop their skills in being able to provide professional sports massage to non-pathological tissue.

Age Ranges

Entry is at the discretion of the centre. However, learners should be aged 16 to undertake this qualification.

Qualification Structure

Learners must complete all 5 mandatory units to achieve a total of 37 credits.  Learners complete the theory component through distance learning (online) via our bespoke eLearning platform before attending 2–3 in-person weekends to complete the practical elements of the qualification.

We don't do exams. To facilitate student learning and understanding, and ensure learners get the most from their qualification, we do not use automated or self marking exams.  Learners will compile and submit a portfolio before receiving individualised feedback.
